Engine shared comments with the FTC on their proposed AI policy statement interpreting following state AI laws as a potential violation of Section 5 of the FTC Act. In our comments, we explain how as written, the policy statement views state and federal obligations in irreconcilable tension, which is likely to put AI startups in an untenable position, undermine their competitiveness, and cut against the goal of creating national uniformity in AI policy.
