Statement:

Engine filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in Cox Communications, Inc. v. Sony Music Entertainment, arguing that Internet service providers and other intermediaries should not be held liable for users' alleged copyright infringement. The brief—signed by several pro-innovation and tech groups—explains that startups would be especially harmed by a ruling in Sony's favor, as Internet companies can't operate without Internet access, and startups are often the first targets of infringement claims, particularly AI startups and platforms hosting user content.
